Reverse Gilding / Verre Églomisé
Distressed Effect Gold Leaf Mirror Gilding
The Gold or Silver leaf is applied with a water size using a Squirrel hair "Tip" to lift the leaf. Once the size has dryed the metal surface can be 'Burnished' to a brilliant mirror effect.
Reverse water gilding on glass surfaces such as:

- Kitchen Splash backs, &
- Table Tops
... is the choice of clients requiring either a brilliant mirror effect or a distressed & aged appearance. After a final varnish is applied the reverse gilded surface can be cleaned gently with warm soapy water and if maintained correctly should last 40 years or more. Glass splash backs can be gilded in a variety of metals with effects including sand blasted lettering, patina effects, distressed mirror effects, murals etc.
